Tecno Camon 19 Pro Display Review
The phone has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a resolution of 1080p, with a maximum brightness nit of 400, outdoors the display is going to be fine you won’t struggle to view the display. The high refresh rate makes using the display more snappy in the eye. Scrolling through is a joy to behold because of the smoothness of the motion on the display. Watching YouTube videos and playing games using the display was fantastic.
If you are a fan of big displays then you will love the Camon 19 Pro display. The size of the display makes watching content on it more enjoyable. Screen to body ratio is 89%, it has small bezels and a chin around the display. It has one of the thinnest bezels on any smartphone within its price category. The phone also has its selfie camera engraved at the top center of the display. I enjoyed using the display of the Camon 19 Pro especially because of the 120Hz refresh rate. Nowadays, phones with 120Hz refresh rates have gotten a little bit more expensive, Tecno decided to keep the price fair with the Camon 19 Pro. Overall, you will have a fantastic display in your hands if you decide to buy the device.
Tecno Camon 19 Pro Review – Design & Build Quality
The Tecno Camon 19 Pro has a unique design and at that, it won the iF design award 2022. It has a matte plastic finish that makes holding it in the hand comfortably. There are two camera rings at the back that are housing the 64MP main camera, and the two other cameras.
The flashlight is outside the camera rings, but sitting closely in between the cameras. I love the texture at the back of the phone, and I see myself using this phone without a case. The first time I showed the phone to my friends they were startled and appreciated the beauty of the phone. There is a Camon 19 branding on the left side of the phone, the fingerprint scanner is by the left. It also doubles as the unlock key, it is fast and responsive. The volume rockers are just above the unlock key. We have a USB C port and a headphone jack at the bottom, it’s great to have a headphone jack on a midrange phone although some brands are starting to take it away nowadays.
The speaker at the bottom of the phone is also loud, we also have two tiny microphones for calls at the top and bottom of the phone. There is another speaker at the top of the phone and because of the tiny bezels on the phone, it sits on the plastic frame. To the left we have the sim card holder, the phone supports two 4G sim cards, but the 5G model supports two 5G sim cards. You can also use a memory card of up to 256GB in case you want to increase storage space. The design feels unique and pleasing in the hand, it stands out from the competition.
Performance and Software
There won’t be a complete Tecno Camon 19 Pro 5G review if we don’t do justice to the performance and software aspect of the Camon 19 Pro which is one of my favorite aspects of the Camon 19 Pro 5G – Tecno did well. The Camon 19 Pro is one of the first and only Tecno phones running on Android 12. It is also first in line to receive the Android 13 update when it’s available to the general public. Tecno phones are not used to getting Android updates, and it’s refreshing to see the Camon 19 Pro has a software update. The user interface is the new HiOs 8 which is a little bit refined. It still comes packed with unwanted apps that can be removed or stopped from pushing notifications on the phone.
There are a lot of customizations you can do in the settings, and if you want to increase the RAM you have to navigate to the special functions tab in the settings. There are other features there that you can use to clone apps as well. Android 12 is not in full infect on the Camon 19 Pro but you do get notified with a tiny green dot at the top right side of the display if any app is using your microphone or camera. Icons and fonts look a bit modified and the phone has 8GB RAM that can be expanded to 11 GB with some storage space.
The storage space is capped at 256GB and there is a 128GB variant. Performance is handled by the Helio G96 which is the commonly used chipset within the price category, if you want a little bit more the Camon 19 Pro 5G is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 810 5G chipset. Performance is okay, it handles multitasking and games in a superb way. The chipset is built on a 12-nanometer processor, and the Mali-G57 MC2 is the GPU. You can play demanding games like Call of Duty, Need for Speed, PUBG, and more on the Camon 19 Pro. While performance might not be its strongest point it is fairly decent and you won’t experience any lags while using the phone.
Tecno Camon 19 Pro 5G Camera Review
The Tecno Camon 19 has a 64MP primary camera with an RGBW sensor, Laser autofocus, and optical image stabilization. There is a 50MP telephoto lens and a 2MP depth sensor housed in the second ring beneath the first one carrying the main camera. We have a 32MP main camera on the phone. There are a lot of fun features in the camera viewfinder including super night mode that takes some incredibly well-detailed shots at night. One thing though is that you have to wait for some seconds after taking images with the super night mode.
The pictures that come out of the camera both day and night are incredible. Portrait mode is very okay for both humans and objects and I find the selfie camera to be outstanding too. I mean it has a 32MP selfie camera and there is no other phone in its price range that offers something like that. There is beauty mode, AI, and some fun filters in the camera viewfinder. The phone shoots steady videos using its main lens but the resolution is capped at 2K. The phone is simply best in class in terms of photos, it can stand any of the phones already available in the market within its price. Here are more photos.

Just like every other smartphone user, you definitely won’t buy a smartphone that has bad battery life or low valued charging feature. The Tecno Camon 19 Pro 5G has a 5000mAh battery, and it also supports 33watts fast charging – what more makes a device stand out if not great battery life. It takes about one hour to charge the phone from zero to a hundred. It lasts for over 8 hours if you are a heavy user but it can last even more when your turn off the 120Hz refresh rate. It should last you a whole day if you are a casual user. The Battery life is one of the stand-out features of the Tecno Camon 19 Pro.
